Why can't isolines touch?

If isolines were to touch, it would imply that the same value exists in two different locations, which is not possible. This would violate the principle that each isoline indicates a unique value, leading to confusion in interpretation. Therefore, isolines must remain separate to accurately depict the distribution of the variable.
