What is potable alcohol?

Potable alcohol is a high proof alcohol that is drinkable. Liquors such as Bacardi 151 or Everclear fit in this category. Often potable alcohol is used for cleaning items such as pipes, where regular alcohol or denatured alcohol would be harmful if ingested.
