What was the theme of Matthew's Gospel?

Luke in his account of Christ's life presented the facts as told to him by eyewitnesses to Jesus life. From this, he gleaned the following themes - that Jesus was the Messiah and divine; that salvation was universally available, regardless of race, sex, social status, or health; and that Jesus lived a life of humility and compassion that culminated in suffering in our place. Christ triumphed over death, in order that all could live eternally with God if they accept it.

The writer Luke the physician, covers a lot of ground in his work, including an emphasis on Jesus as ''the son of man'' an allusion to Daniel the prophet. He also deals with, as one might imagine, Jesus as a compassionate healer of the sick. His major theme however is regarded by many as the great mission of Jesus ''to seek and to save that which was lost' (Luke 19:10).
