The opportunity and equality between 1815 and 1845 greatly depended on one's position during that period of time. For instance, a white male, over the age of 21 who owned land, had limitless possibility. The country was expanding, and little was needed outside of an adventurous spirit to make a fortune. However, to slaves, Native Americans, women, and certain minority groups, there was very little opportunity and social mobility. As disenfranchised groups they had no say in the government, and their lives were impacted by those who didn't respond to their needs.
