Because wake turbulence is generally related to the weight of an aircraft, these categories are based on one of four weight categories:

light, medium, heavy, and super.

  • H (Heavy) aircraft types of 136 000 kg (300 000 lb) or more;
  • M (Medium) aircraft types less than 136 000 kg (300 000 lb) and more than 7 000 kg (15 500 lb); and
  • L (Light) aircraft types of 7 000 kg (15 500 lb) or less.
  • Super Heavy for Airbus A380-800 with a maximum take-off mass in the order of 560 000 kg. (in US airspace).

737-700 - Operating empty 38,147kg (84,100lb), max takeoff 60,330kg (133,000lb), HGW MTOW 70,080kg (154,500lb).

So, the 737-700 it's definitely a "Medium"
