What happens to people on heroin?

If the dope's good stuff, and you IV, then about 5-10 seconds after the user pulls the pin what happens is the most intense, blissful & orgasmic rush one can experience. It overwhelms one's entire body, followed by a hazy, dulled state & nodding in & out for hours. This goes on for a few months. The user's habit builds. And the chase for the rush continues, but it's not so great these days...they find themselves using larger & larger amounts of dope just to stave off withdrawal & maintain normality.

After that it's anyone's guess. Some get clean, some o.d., others go on maintenance drugs like methadone & suboxone & still others are "lifers" who will die addicted.
