Why do guys throw you over their shoulder?

There is no superstition connected with a guy throwing you over his shoulder.

This is however a common "display" behaviour which can be traced back through human history into our per-history.

Men at one time "captured" their future mates. They at times would steal women from neighbouring villages, or capture them in raids. The easiest way to carry off a struggling woman was to throw her over their shoulder encircling her legs with their non-dominant forearm, thus leaving their sWord (or other weapon) arm free.
