What would happen if a pre op transsexual or a post op transsexual got sent to prison would they go to mens or womens?

This is a very difficult subject. A person should go to the prison according to their legal gender. A male to female individual should go to a female prison if their legal gender is female. However in many circumstances, they go to their birth gender's prison. I would assume that it's decided on a case-by-case basis.
