What is the book of Peter of Mount Ephraim about?

The story is about a family that lived in slavery. They were already freed but the owners did not want to give them their freedom.

So a man called Daddy Sharpe led a group of people to stand up for their rights. He told them that without their help the estate would not be there, and other important buildings.

At night the people of the estate were told to rest for the next day. Only the solders and other important people were allowed outside at late hours; if anyone was found outdoors, they would be punished and would be put in stocks.
