Will our sun go supernova in the future?

Nope, the sun lacks the necessary mass to go supernova. It will swell into a red giant in about 5 billion years, consuming Mercury and Venus in the process, but will eventually shed its outer layers to become a white dwarf. So, no explosive theatrics for our sun, just a slow, graceful fade into retirement.
