In my 20 years of treating patients, I’ve found that the scale is often the most misunderstood tool in the bathroom. People look at a number like 80kg (about 176 pounds) and immediately want to know if it's "bad" or "good."

The truth is, weight is not a grade on a test; it’s just one piece of a much larger puzzle. To understand if 80kg is right for you, we have to look at how that weight is spread across your unique frame.

I often see athletes come into my clinic weighing 80kg who are in incredible shape. This is because muscle is much denser than fat.

Think of it like this: a kilogram of lead takes up very little space, but a kilogram of feathers would fill a whole pillow. Muscle is your "lead," and fat is your "feathers."

If you exercise regularly, you might weigh 80kg because you have strong muscles and healthy bones. In that case, you aren't "fat"—you’re fit.
