I have worked temporary office jobs. Working temporary jobs is a good way to find out about different jobs and companies in the area. Usually, they really need you to be there and doing the best you can for them is a plus. I have had people offer me jobs to stay and/or to provide references. Often, though, the company you are working for doesn't want to pay the premium the staffing company tacks on for them to hire you and have you work directly for them. The wait time is 6 months' separation from the staffing company, depending on the staffing agreement, for them to hire you without paying that. Also, you are limited to 1,000 hours working temporary for one company.
