If the children sent them and you know they did, be polite and proper as you would do to anyone who sent them- recognizing their support would be a good thing. Even if their mother send the flowers in the name of the grandchildren, children love to get cards and feel important. Send the grandchildren a card appropriate for their age. Absolutely not. It's their responsibilty and obligation to perform these duties in support of the family and the people that are responsible for them even being here, taking up other people's breathing air. The people that don't care if they ever existed or not..........Best thing to do, if they really cared about their people, is to look in on them, see how they feel, ask them if they need anything. Support, in short. But, different people do tend to be different.................
