Why were the Cajuns forced out of Acadia?

The Cajuns were forced out of Acadia due to the British conquest of the region during the French and Indian War (1754-1763). In 1755, the British government ordered the expulsion of the Acadian population, fearing they would side with the French. This mass deportation, known as the Great Upheaval, resulted in thousands of Acadians being forcibly removed from their homes, leading many to seek refuge in Louisiana, where they eventually became known as Cajuns.
