What is the scientific name of a Paper birch?

In the south, Hammer mills who own or rent most of the land, plant Lobbloly (sp?) Pines everywhere so there is no hardwoods for fall color.

This may not be the type of tree you were referring to but it is the tree that paper is made from because after cutting all the hardwoods down it its the fastest growing tree for their purpose of making paper. of course no wild life can exist in pine forest. They're like deserts to wild life.
