When did box TVs come out?

Box TVs, or cathode ray tube (CRT) televisions, became commercially available in the late 1920s, with the first public demonstration of a working television system occurring in 1927 by Philo Farnsworth. However, they gained widespread popularity in the 1950s and 1960s as technology improved and production costs decreased. CRT TVs remained the dominant form of television until the early 2000s, when flat-screen technologies like LCD and plasma began to take over.
