Difference between population data and census?

A census, on the other hand, is a comprehensive count and collection of data about every individual in a population, typically conducted at regular intervals (e.g., every ten years). While census data is a key source of population data, not all population data comes from censuses; it can also be derived from sample surveys or estimates.
