What countries most snakes live in?

Snakes are common in all temperate, subtropical, and tropical habitats around the world, excluding those which isolated by large expanses of water (such as most islands). However, I believe they are most common in warm places with an abundance of small mammals (their primary food), and numerous hiding places (such as reeds or rock crevices).
