Why it is important to follow work shut down procedures?

There are several reasons:

• Safety during shut down and subsequent start up
  
• Equipment protection during shut down, idle periods and statrtup
  
• So that all valves shout be in to proper open and shut positions to all startup.
  
• To prevent spills and fires
  
• To allow systematic repair programs to be completed.
