How can you cost effectively repair a BADLY leaking tin barn roof?

Depends on height of barn etc.

You could fit a tarpauling over affected area ensuring it covered the lap or edge of the roof to prevent water travelling under it, patch with tin, overlay the whole thing with ply and felt (more costly)
