How did Zeus swallow Athena's mother Metis?

He turned Metis into a fly and swallowed her.

Why?

Because they were expecting a child and Zeus thought if its going to be a boy, he might turn out stronger than me just like how i did the same to my dad. So therefore he decided to swallow her (:
