Marie Laurencin (born in France 1883 died in Paris 1956) is known for her specifically feminine aesthetic achieved through the use of pastels and curvilinear forms. She arrived on the Paris scene around 1906. She was considered the only female "Cubist" although she never adopted their tenets, she did associate mainly with the Advant Garde Parisian Cubist founders, including Picasso. She was known for her watercolors and oils paintings filled with mysteriously reserved, yet strong and focused women with large, dark eyes and delicate features. Laurencin did portraits of Coco Chanel, Lady Cunard, and Helena Rubenstein. I believe that I have one of her earliest works, a small watercolour about 5 by 7 inches. Its mathes up very welll with the composition, structure, palette, lines and delicateness of the Laurencin's women found in her watercolors and paintings.

the worth of a Marie Laurencin watercolor could range upwards from a few thousand dollars to several.
