After Alexander the great's death in 323 BCE, his empire was divided among three of his most prominent generals: Ptolemy, who took control of Egypt; Seleucus, who established the Seleucid Empire in Persia and the East; and Antigonus, who ruled over parts of Asia Minor and tried to unify the fragmented empire. These leaders became key figures in the subsequent Wars of the Diadochi, as they vied for power and territory in the wake of Alexander’s conquests.
