When did the the Spanish take over the Aztec?

The Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire began in 1519 and culminated in 1521. Led by Hernán Cortés, Spanish forces, along with native allies, captured the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlán, effectively ending the empire.
