In the UK bigamy is punished by imprisonment. If the bigamy causes harm or injury to either party or the bigamy is part of a deliberate avoidance of the UK's Immigration process eg a bogus marriage, then there will be a custodial sentence. In less serious cases the prison sentence may be suspended.
