What is the difference between a bar graph and a line plot?

The difference is that there is no y axis on a line plot. The letter X is used to represent one of that number. For example, if there where 2 people that had two pets, there would be two Xs above the number 2. A bar graph uses the scale on the y axis to tell you the amount, instead of Xs. I hope this helps!
