Death in a dream or in a tarot (or any other divination deck) card reading very rarely has anything at all to do with actual mortality. It represents change, metamorphosis. Try to remember and (write down) the other details. Was there any conversation? What specifically was said? What kind of energy were you feeling in the dream? What were your physical positions? What did the body language tell you? Who else was in the dream? etc.

It's important to write it down because then you can objectively analyze the situation, you can begin to see patterns. Call the relative and see what kinds of changes are happening. To see death in a dream is rather profound. It makes me wonder if perhaps the relative is not only going through some sort of change but is at a major crossroad in his/her life. It represents a new path. A change that impacts the rest of this person's life. We hit major crossroads in our lives periodically. This can be a wonderful, frightening, thrilling, powerful beginning to a brand new chapter in our lives.
