What is the difference between allograft and autograft?

autograft is tissue taken from one part of a patient's body in order to repair or replace injured tissue in another part of the same patient's body. OR

a tissue or organ that is grafted into a new position on the body of the individual

from which it was removed.

allograft is tissue taken from one patient (the donor) to be used in another, such as for a heart or kidney transplant. OR

a tissue or organ obtained from one member of a species and grafted to a

genetically dissimilar member of the same species.
