What is a content pane on windows 7?

Won't let me paste a picture so hopefully you can get the answer from what I am trying to say.

Your content pane is located in your computer/documents window explorer.

If you are in your computer window explorer, it will be the portion that shows you what you have installed on the computer. This portion includes the Hard Disk Drives, Devices with Removable storage, and your Network Locations.

If you are in your Documents window explorer, it will be the portion of the window that shows you what files and folders you have in this section.
