Austria was annexed by Nazi Germany in March 1938 in a process known as the Anschluss. This annexation was largely facilitated by the policies of Adolf Hitler, who aimed to unite all German-speaking peoples under German rule. The move was met with little resistance from the Austrian government or the international community, ultimately leading to Austria's incorporation into the Third Reich.
