Why is population growth a concern?

As population increases, the resources of the surrounding environment will be consumed.

The greater the population the greater rate of consumption. The Environment will be cleared to make houses... Natural Resources will be extracted, be it for energy production (coal), Exporting (lumber, anything with any value). The rain forest in Brazil is being cleared for Cattle and livestock to graze upon.

More people = more consumption of the environment.
