No he did not. Right up until his death Bernie Mac was an outspokent opponent of smoking, especially of Menthol cigarettes popular in the Black Community. He said in an interview with the New York Times in 2007, "I don't get it, smoking, you know? Why a black man would want to burn some leaves and breath it is beyond me but these young people take to it like kids to candy. It's terrible for you, just terrible."
