What process can change sedimentary rock into igeous rock?

Sedimentary rock can be transformed into igneous rock through the process of melting and subsequent solidification. When sedimentary rock is subjected to extreme heat and pressure, it can melt into magma. If this magma then rises to the surface and cools, it crystallizes to form igneous rock.
