What were Catherine McAuley's major achievements?

She built a house in Dublin to provide care and education for children. Other women joined with her. Arising from this she eventually founded the Sisters of Mercy. They are a religious order and are associated with the care and particularly the education of children. The Sisters of Mercy now have thousands of members around the world and still work to help people.
