When deoband movement started?

The Deoband movement began in 1867 with the establishment of the Darul Uloom Deoband seminary in India. It emerged as a response to British colonialism and a desire to preserve Islamic teachings and practices in the face of modernization and reformist trends. The movement emphasized a return to traditional Islamic scholarship and the importance of education in Arabic and Islamic sciences. Deobandism has since become a significant school of thought within Sunni Islam, particularly in South Asia.
