Because they had sense enough to stay out of it. If the Spanish had entered the war they could have caused problems, especially with access to the Mediterranean. But this would have also made them a prime target for the British. There are hints that the British paid a very, very large sum to the Spanish to keep them neutral, but this is still one of the unrevealed secrets of the war.
