Is there an easy way to check for a plugged cat on my 1998 Tahoe?

Here are a few ways I know of, Rotten egg smell coming from bottom of car. After driving during the nightime open you hood and check if the intake manifolds are glowing red hot. If it is then it is plugged. Remove the front 02 sensor and drive it. If there is significant power change then you cat is plugged.
