Shooting is illegal in some situations all the time. Some of these circumstances include:
- Shooting at a person, whether any bullet hits the person or not, is typically illegal (except in some situations). Killing a human by firearm is always illegal, though the law allows a person to protect themselves.
- Shooting in the direction of homes, and within a specified number of feet from houses.
- Discharging a firearm in certain areas of a city or town.
- Carrying or Firing a weapon on the grounds of or inside certain institutions, such as schools, hospitals, medical facilities, etc.
- Using a gun to threaten or terrorize anyone ("brandishing a gun"), even if it is never fired.
These are just a handful of situations.
