Can you get rehab instead of jail time?

do you have a lawyer? if not get a public defender,quick. and yes, your lawyer can ask for rehab instead of jail as long as you aren't being tried for violent crimes. if your crime was drug related, or petty theft, then most definetely. but if your a repeat offender or you violated your parole, then your probably screwed. sorry....

ADDED; Your use of the term "state jail" seems to indicate you might be facing a PRISON sentence. Since only felony defendants are sentenced to state prison, it sounds like you are facing a felony charge. While some of the advice given above may be of use, a felony charge makes it more difficult to be considered for a light/nonexistent sentence.
