High denomination notes have never been recalled. Technically they're still legal tender but spending one wouldn't be very sensible because they're worth much more to collectors.

In 1969 the government issued an order that banks would no longer be required or permitted to distribute bills larger than $100, as a way to combat their use by organized crime. However, those in circulation were allowed to remain.
