How old is Thacia in The Bronze Bow?

Malthace (Thacia) is like a sister to Daniel, as is Joel like a brother.

This is true in the first part of the book but as the book continues he starts to have feelings for her and she for him. In the end they end up getting engaged I think. At least that is what it sounds like from the ending.
