How many people have climbed Mount Everest in total?

From the year 2000 to the end of 2011 there had been 4,488 ascents made to the summit of Mount Everest. Out of the 4,488 only 226 were woman climbers who had reached the summit and 21 climbers sadly died on the mountain during this time.
