A profit business is basically for the rewards in return and non profit is to service the economy no matter what the case my be.

Definition:

Profits represents rewards for businesspeople who take the risks involved in blending people, technology, and information to create and market satisfying goods and services.

An a non-profit businesslike establishment that have primary objectives other than returning profits to their owners. Example: U.S. Postal Service, the American heart association.
