Why should you never use automotive electric parts on a boat?

Automotive electrical parts are not designed for a marine environment. Saltwater is the number one culprit. However, boats are under load far more then autos. This produces even more demand on everything. Also, vibration and repeated impacts have negative results. Boats do not have a suspension system like autos.
