What was Tasmanias name before now?

Before it was named Tasmania, the island was known by various names, including Van Diemen's Land. This name was given by Dutch explorer Abel Tasman in the 17th century, in honor of Anthony van Diemen, the governor-general of the Dutch East Indies.
