How does the nervous system affect behavior in adolescents?

One of the greatest ways the nervous system impacts adolescent behavior is in executive functions. Executive functions are higher-order thinking skills... things that require us to plan significantly and anticipate the likely results of our plans or actions. These types of processes take place in the frontal lobe of the brain which is shown to not be fully developed until about 21 years old.
