Why do wolves and their relatives look alike?

Scientists say that dogs evolved from wolves about 15,000 years ago. After comparing dog and wolf DNA, scientists say that every dog-from Chihuahuas to Great Danes-are descended from approximately five female Asian wolves. They are the mothers of all modern dogs.
