Why did Jose Rizal need to travel to write and study?

Dr. Jose Rizal needed to travel because the friars was on to his family. since the death of the 3 filipino martyrs the spanish knew that his brother paciano was close to one of the 3priests that were sentenced to death so his brother told him to go to Madrid in order to continue his studies and prove to the spanish that Filipinos can Excel in school like the other spanish kids.
