What does G4S pay?

A G4S Secure Solutions USA, Inc. (formerly G4S Wackenhut, Inc; formerly Wackenhut, Inc,) employee (Security Officer) earns anything from $9.50 U.S. to $13.75 U.S. per hour depending on the type of commission, post and category of officer (i.e. Traditional Security Officer through Custom Protection Officer. There are 5 categories.). The $9.50 to $13.75 range applies to the Kansas City metropolitan area only. Payscale.com quotes a range of $9.28 U.S. to $14.10 U.S. per hour nationally in the U.S.A. Officers in other company divisions may earn considerably more. This range sounds about right, though it is based on a sample of 28 salaries. All the quoted wages are for non supervisory positions only. Take my Word for it. Don't work for this company unless you have no other alternative. It is not professionally managed, morale is poor, the turnover rate is extremely high, the benefits are no good, and you might work only 32 ( possibly 40, not guaranteed) hours per week. The only way to earn sufficient income is to work 12 hour shifts or double shifts (16 hours) for the overtime pay. Overtime is officially discouraged; most clients will not fund it. Time off is difficult to get. It must be requested 30 days in advance and approved. There is no sick leave and absences for illness are discouraged. There are paid holidays, but you must work that holiday to be paid for it. Not all security officers can have any one particular holiday (Christmass or Thanksgiving) off at the same time. Some posts have gone 3 to 4 years without pay raises because the client will not fund a pay raise. Also, fellow officers will inform on or snitch on coworkers,even for minor infractions, often to gain favor with superiors and management. The company has published procedures and polices, but does not necessarily follow them. They will violate their own policies when it suits their purposes, or for convenience. Other companies which specialize in government contracts, such as MVM, pay much more up to $26.00 U.S. ( the training is more rigorous) per hour, but may not have much better working conditions than G4S. G4S is neither family friendly nor employee friendly; run the other way!!!
