How do I figure out a square foot?

a square foot is simply a square that is 1 foot by 1 foot

if the area you need to measure is 3 feet by 6 feet you have 18 square feet (3 x 6 = 18)

if the area is 10 feet by 10 feet you have 100 square feet (10 x 10 = 100)
